FMP (Week 7) - Trees and snow!
This week I decided that one of the next important things which I needed to do was to create some foliage to fill out the environment. I learnt of a program called Speedtree, which allows you to quickly create geometry and branches for trees in relatively quick time.

I produced two trees in total, a pine tree and a cherry blossom tree, making use of the automatic branch adding features and sliders and also using the hand-painting tool. Whilst the trees don't achieve the quite style I am looking for, they work nicely in the currently placeholder scene, and I will return later to these to create hand painted textures and modify the geometry of them.

Once I was done creating some trees, I decided I should make a start on the main texture to be used in the scene; the snow. I followed various tutorials for the snow, creating the texture in substance designer and setting it up in engine. I still need to make a rocky/ground texture to merge with this snow, as I do not want snow covering the entirety of the landscape as it is very bright and distracting.
Below are a collection of screenshots of my scene in unlit mode, to show some of the progress I have made with the scene and to also demonstrate my numerous screenshot angles for my final renders of the project.

And below is a screenshot showing the scene lit with the placeholder textures and a foggy morning lighting system.

Next week I will spend working further on texturing, as I would like to texture all of my current assets before I start creating any new ones.
