Week 24: Dichotomous Character Presentation

I have now completed two presentations, a first presentation in week 22 where we were provided feedback for our presentations and designs, and a second one presented this week, week 24, where we presented our improved presentations which will be marked and go towards our final critical studies grade.

The first presentation I found quite difficult, as I am not the best public speaker. However the tutors seemed to like my idea and only suggested a few minor changes, which was reassuring. Changes included small things such as removing some research slides and focusing more on the actual development of the character.

For the second presentation I made sure to make these changes, I initially had seperate research and style slides, but decided to merge these two. I added an extra slide of visual design development, showing my concept changes and some colour iterations. I also added a textures slide which showed my texture sheet and normals as this was something which was requested by the tutors. The final change I made was to the poster; in the original presentation I had not yet completed my poster, so wasn't able to recieve feedback on this unfortunately, however it was fully completed in time for the second presentation.

The second presentation itself went somewhat smoothly, I think I managed to communicate all of my points successfully though I would like to have had more interaction with the audience and moved away from the monitors if possible, which is somethign I aim to be able to do for any next presentations that I may have.

Below you can see my final poster for the presentation. It shows my two dichotomous characters together posed as if entering battle. I tried to focus mainly on the characters themselves and only slightly hinted towards the scene in the background, as I didn't want to detract from the main features of the poster, which in this case were the characters themselves. I created a very simple logo for a generic MMO to add to the poster, just to represent what a company's logo would look like placed on my poster design and reinforce the MMO style.

Unfortunately I was not able to upload a downloable copy of my presentatiosn onto my blog, but below is a gallery showing each of the individual slides.
