Yr2 Week 9: Sentry Gun and Rocks!

This week I imported my Sentry Gun into Unreal Engine and setup my model using the provided blueprints. The head surprisingly moves around and functions quite nicely, a little better than I had hoped for considering I haven't yet made any extra tweaks to the model. I still haven't figured out how to change and relocate the projectile spawn locations, and due to this, the projectiles are currently firing out from the back of the lions neck, oops.

After my gun was in engine, I decided to experiment with creating rocks in ZBrush, as I want to create my high poly gun in zbrush, so I wanted to familiarise myself with the tools and techniques before starting.

This is a quick screenshot of the rocks baked down to low poly and placed in unreal with the normals from the high poly added. It doesn't look quite right yet, but I don't think it is bad for my first attempt and helped to familiarise me with the process for future reference.

I then spent quite a fair amount of time unwrapping my low poly model, which was not fun in the slightest, but was something I needed to do before importing my model to Zbrush to add more detail, otherwise it would've been more difficult to do afterwards.

I started to think about what kind of props I'd like to add to my model for the stretch goal, and decided that I would like to create some kind of ruined abandoned jungle temple enterance, which would share similar textures and materials as my lion, who would serve as a guard for the temple, and really add some story to my gun overall.

This is a very quick screenshot of some of my Zbrush progress so far; it is nowhere near done but it is nice to see the changes in the project as I go along and I am excited to finish this next week!
